These old earthenware Hartleys jam jars are ancient and have been in the family for generations!
One of my favourite memories is coming home from school to the vision of my Nana, Madeleine, using them to make wheaten, soda and treacle bread. Ah my mouth is watering just at the memory of treacle bread.
After she died, the jamjars lay abandoned as it was just too painful. At the same time, there was no way we could ever throw them out!
Now after many many years I have taken on the mantle and am honoured to carry on her tradition.
