To be honest, I thought this might be a wind up!  Mandy, who grows lots of lovely things on her allotment told me that if I replanted the root of the spring onion, it would regrow. I know she has a good sense of humour but this did seem to be a very odd wind up!  Some how I just couldnt see it but I gave it a go anyway!

I planted the root stubs in the soil and waited… ( a bit like waiting for the Easter Bunny I thought!)

But sure enough, after a while they started to grow back and I was amazed.  This really has to be the ultimate in recycling!  I’m really quite sorry I doubted her!  I will never throw the ends of spring onions away again.
