Win a £50 Tesco Gift Voucher

Wednesday, November 30, 2016

To celebrate the newly refurbished Tesco store in Newtownbreda, Tesco NI has given Eating Ideas a £50.00 gift voucher for one lucky reader to win. To be in with a chance, all you have to do is comment on this post saying why you should win! The winner will be selected at 12 noon on Thursday 15 December. Good luck everyone!

The new look store

I was invited for a personal tour of the store and for a chance to see behind the scenes.  This is my absolute favourite Tesco store so I was keen to see what changes had been made.

I was greeted by Marketing Manager, Caoimhe, Stevie, who looks after customer experience and the lovely Maeve from Serious PR.  The welcome couldn’t have been warmer and I was escorted around the store by Stevie who is as proud and passionate about Tesco as any person could be.

With great pride, he talked me through the various changes in the store.  New cream interiors, wider aisles, lower, easy to access displays and improved signage all help to make the store seem much brighter, easier to navigate and certainly bigger. Tesco has invested more than £2 million in this refurbishment and it certainly shows.

The thing that struck me the most was how well they showcase their partnerships with local suppliers.  In addition to large posters promoting local farmers, they have brought in the expertise of a traditional local butcher with the new Primacy Farm Butchery counter which sells products from the family farm butchery outside Bangor, Co.Down.  This definitely helps deliver on their commitment to sourcing locally with 100% of their meat sourced in Northern Ireland.  I met Paul from Primacy and he happily let me help sample sweet chilli sausages to bemused shoppers!  This could be a new career move as I actually thought I was very good at it!

Another improvement to the store is the new look cafe.  Truth be told, I have been going to this store for years and never realised that there was a cafe.  The refurbished version has the look and feel of a diner and I have ear marked it for a convenient cuppa next time I am doing a big shop there! A new community room has also been created to offer local charities and community groups a vital new venue in which to host charitable events, free of charge. Bookings can be made through the store’s community champion.

When in the cafe, I met with Store Manger, Nora and trade manager Michael who were open and friendly, willing to answer any questions I had.

After a refreshing cuppa in the new look cafe, Caoimhe showed me behind the scenes in the staff area which looked just as good as the store itself.  It may seem minor, but I was really pleased to see that the staff were treated to a new look and feel, not just the customers.

If you haven’t been yet, get yourself along to the Newtownbreda store.  It really is worth a visit.  As an incentive, why not comment below for a chance to win the £50 voucher?
