Coffee and cake all round for MacMillan Cancer Support

Sunday, September 17, 2017

Eat cake and raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support? Oh yes! What a great way to raise vital funds for this fantastic charity.

Let’s all raise a mug and help beat cancer! The Macmillan Cancer Support’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is taking place on Friday 29 September. What a great excuse to eat cake! Nearly everyone has been or will be affected by cancer at some stage throughout their life and we never know when we will need this vital support. My own family has benefitted from the support provided by the Macmillan nurses, and we will be forever indebted to them. They really do an amazing job, providing practical and emotional support. I truly can’t speak highly enough about them. Why not gather some friends together and catch up over a cuppa and delicious baked treats? Any money you raise will help Macmillan Cancer Support in their quest to ensure that no one has to face cancer alone. They will even provide a free Coffee Morning Kit containing everything you need to host a brilliant get together. To sign up for a pack click here. All the money raised will help fund vital Macmillan professionals in local communities, such as nurses, occupational therapists and dieticians To make it even easier, M&S stores across Northern Ireland are inviting customers to join them for an extra special cup of coffee and slice of cake. There are lots of yummy treats available in M&S Foodhalls, with 10 percent of each sale going to Macmillan. All M&S Cafés will also donate 5p from every hot drink and slice of cake sold throughout September to the cause. There is also a cake slice, fork set and mug available along with chic bag accessories designed by artist Rob Ryan for Macmillan.  I have the cake slice and I’m delighted with it This is the eighth year of the partnership between Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning and M&S. Since 2010, they have jointly raised an amazing £10 million to help people living with cancer in their communities. This really is the easiest way to give support and best of all, anyone can do it. You can buy a cake mix from M&S and make it, or buy their ready-made cakes and fake it. If you fancy having a go at baking your own cake, I have listed a few of my favourite cake recipes below: Lemon Drizzle Cake Strawberry and Mint drizzle cake Victoria Sandwich Honey and cinnamon cake Chocolate and orange marble cake Banana cake Rhubarb and custard cake
