I love savoury snacks- I mean really love them.  I can happily bypass sweets and biscuits but find it physically impossible to pass crisps and dips, nuts etc.  As you can imagine, this is not ideal health wise and so I have been on the look out for any alternatives.  I sampled some spicy broad beans on holiday but they had definitely been deep fried and therefore, I can’t really see how much more healthy these could be.

I have heard people talking about roasted chickpeas and these definitely sounded like a runner.  I decided to give it a go.  I have to say, my second attempt was more successful than my first.  On my first try, I lost my nerve and didn’t roast them for long enough. This left a few of them a bit soggy.  The second time, I was braver and held out until they were golden and crispy.

I must say, the end result was really good, crunchy, spicy and really tasty.  I happily chomped my way through them feeling guilt free.  I even chucked some into salads and soups as an alternative to croutons and they really worked.

They are really easy to make and worth a try.  If you want to make them- here is what you will need
