There are a few restaurants in the chain and we ended up only being able to get a table in the city branch at Guildhall.
On first impressions, the restaurant seemed like a massive canteen although I am assured that other Hawksmoors are a bit more intimate.
The waiting staff are second to none, explaining the different cuts of meat, portion sizes etc. I was a bit overwhelmed by the choice, not being the biggest steak lover in the world.
I really wanted to try the chateau briand but it was for sharing and noone else wanted their meat cooked the same way as me!
In the end, I opted for the fillet steak which I ordered medium cooked. I have to say, it was the most delicious steak I have ever eaten but I did give up when I got to the centre which was just a tad too rare for me.
We chose a selection of vegetables including tenderstem broccoli, creamed spinach, baked field mushrooms and asparagus.
I loved every single mouthful and even though the group I was with were all avoiding carbs, we didn’t miss them as the vegetables were so delicious.
Its not the cheapest place in town at over £300 for 4 (although that did include some pre dinner drinks and 2 bottles of Pinot Noir) but it was a special occasion and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!
I have definitely bookmarked the Hawksmoor for a second visit!
