As many people know, I am keen to try growing vegetables in pots. The biggest problem I face is watering them. For a start, I travel a lot and secondly there is a hosepipe ban where I live.
I was delighted to be introduced to these watering spikes. They are fantastic! you simply screw the spike onto a water bottle and shove into the soil. To make it even easier, you can remove the bottom of the bottle so that you dont have to remove the spikes to add the water. By placing the spike as far into the soil as it will go, means that the water is released by the roots where it needs it most. You can even reduce the speed at which the water drips out by stuffing the spike with kitchen roll.
I have pictured the spike in action with my new chilli pepper plant. It just remains to see if it thrives.
