This is one of the ultimate comfort foods and it really would never have occured to me to make it. My friend Ali used to make it for us all on Villa holidays in France so when we saw in on the menu in the Grange pub in Ealing, we just had to order it for old times sake!
Ali used to make it by taking the cheese out of the wooden container, removing the paper wrapper and placing the cheese back in the box before baking in a low oven for about 30 minutes. She then served it with torn off strips of crusty baguette- yummy!
This version in the grange was served with toasted crusty bread and some sort of apple sauce which had actually been described in the menu as apple chutney but was anything but!
Try this at home and you won’t be disappointed!
