Marks and Spencer has opened a new food store in Carrickfergus and I was invited along to share all the excitement at the official opening.
When I arrived at the new store, I couldn’t believe the crowds who were waiting for a chance of one of the “Golden Tickets” which were being handed out to the first 200 customers to enter the new building.
The Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Councillor Maureen Morrow joined store manager, Grace Lough for the cutting of the ribbon. They were helped out by Eva Morrison (5) and Oscar Millar (6) from Carrickfergus Model Primary School, who were the winners of a colouring competition.
Inside, the store features a bakery and wine shop along with fresh flowers. I was delighted to see that lots of the fresh vegetables on sale had zero packaging. A definite win in my eyes!
As well as thousands of food products, the new 7,000 sq ft store also offers the full range of M&S Clothing & Home products via its Collect in Store service. The store also has a wine shop and an in-store bakery.
