For my entry, I have decided to write about my amazing 2012 Olympics torchbearer experience.  While my photos may not be the best in the world, they are special to me and really tell the story of my fantastic day

I was honoured to be selected to carry the Olympic torch in the week running up to the official opening of the London 2012 Oympic games.  The route I had to run was in Bromley which is a place I have never been to, even though I have friends who live there

After an extremely early start to get to Bromley on time, I finally arrived, full of nerves, to be kitted out in my white torchbearer uniform and meet my fellow torchbearers. Ater being briefed, we boarded a bus to be dropped off at our respective points along the route.  Each of them shared their stories with me and I was so inspired by them that I found it a very tearful experience. I can tell you that I felt very unworthy to be among them.  The group included a cancer survivor, a young man who overcame physical disfigurement, a 92 year old Scout leader and a Special Olympian

My WHITE photo is of this group of  torchbearers that I found so inspirational and was proud to become acquainted with

Once I was dropped off the bus at my allocated spot, I was greeted by the site of some of my best friends, holding a banner and thousands of people lining the streets and cheering.  Even the local MP asked to have his photograph taken with me.  All too quickly, I was being briefed by the police and standing in position waiting for the previous torchbearer to reach me and perform the torch “kiss” (where the 2 torches combine to pass the flame)  As I started to run, I was completely overwhelmed by the cheers of the crowd!  I may never have been to Bromley before, but I can tell you that I will never forget it or its people as long as I live!

My YELLOW picture is of the yellow gold torch which inspired so many people.  It is pictured here with my good friend, Sheena.  The torch spent many hours being photographed and everyone seemed genuinely thrilled to be pictured with it

My BLUE picture is of the crowds lining the roads who were waving and banging together these promotional inflatables

My RED photo is of my friends’ children, Millie, Molly, Mariella and Finn who sat on the kerbstones, waiting to bang their Olympic torch Future Flames beatpads when the torch arrived

My GREEN picture is of the garden where my friends and neighbours held a party to celebrate my amazing day!
