A quick toast to 2012!

A nice healthy start to 2012 with porridgen honey and blueberries. Am off out later to meet a load of friends for New Years day lunch so it will be all downhill from here!

Am back in London and really wanted some good home cooking. Roasted a chicken with herbs and made a cauliflower cheese. Roasted the potatoes in the chicken’s juices and made a gravy from the juice- delicious!  

The cheese and cracker fest continues in flybmi’s lounge with some Jacobs cream crackers, mild cheddar and philadelphia before a flight. Its only a couple of days until the hard core detox starts so I am enjoying everything!

Called into Bob Stewarts for a few festive drinkies and a few of us decided to share some chips, onion rings and pepper sauce.  Theres something ironic about eating chips while discussing how virtuous we plan to be in the new year!

Out for a coffee with my sister at Woodlawn garden centre. We shared a white chocolate and raspberry scone, heated and topped with butter- yummy!!  

Dinner at home and was ready for some home cooking. I made a cheese sauce and added some chopped smoked ham. I poured the mix over chicken breasts and topped with cheese. This was baked in the oven along wiith jacket potatoes and served with salad  

Out for coffee with some friends and two of us decided to share a sandwich. We ordered chicken, cheese and sweet chilli sauce on granary bread and toasted. It was a really nice combination!  

Still staying in groomsport and was offered a roast beef sandwich. Served on white bread with mustard and a bit of coleslaw and potato salad on the side!

Ok so fed up of christmas dinner. Enjoyed an indian takeaway instead.  We ordered a range of dishes to share including, Chicken Bhuna, Chicken Tikka masala and Chicken Parathia with pilau rice, paratha and Naan  

Before launching into our takeaway, we started on a shared portion of Chicken pakora  and onion Bhajee, served with a mango sauce and poppodom

A real Boxing day tradition for me is to make turkey toasted sandwiches from the leftover turkey. Turkey breast with chestnut stuffing and Hellmans mayonnaise.  I dont normally eat white bread but it has to be white for this speciality! – you couldn’t beat it!
