Bloody Mary Pasta

Bloody Mary pasta- yes indeed and let me tell you, it’s an absolute game changer!

I love Bloody Marys and thought, why not make it into a pasta sauce. I wasn’t convinced it would work but it was absolutely delicious. I added vodka to make it authentic to the cocktail (the alcohol burns off during the cooking), but you can leave it out if you prefer.

My top tip is to mix a bag of crushed cheese & onion crisps with the grated cheese for a tasty crunchy topping.

  • 300g pasta (or allow 75g per person)
  • 1 red onion (chopped)
  • 2 sticks of celery finely chopped
  • 1 pepper (chopped)
  • 1 courgette (chopped)
  • Button mushrooms (sliced)
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 500ml passata
  • 1 tbsp Worcester sauce
  • ½ tsp Tabasco sauce
  • 50 mls vodka (optional)
  • Juice of ½ lemon
  • 1 packet of crisps
  • 75g grated parmesan

  • Preheat the oven to 200C
  • Fry the onion, pepper & celery in the oil
  • Add the mushrooms & courgettes and cook through
  • Add the passata, Worcester sauce, Tabasco & lemon
  • Add the vodka if you are using it
  • Crush the crisps & mix with the cheese
  • Place the pasta in an ovenproof dish
  • Top with the cheesy mix
  • Bake in the oven for around 30 minutes or until golden & bubbling
