Some friends and I headed off to Westfield Shopping centre for a birthday day out, relishing the idea of combing shopping with being ladies who lunch.
Shopping done, we paraded around the choice of restaurants to find the one that was best suited to our mood. Most of the choice around there is for Italian based food which no one was in the mood for. In the end, we opted for Gourmet Burger Kitchen which I have never tried before. I have to say, they offer a splendid choice of burgers with some very unusual combinations. The idea is that you choose your burger, how you would like to have it cooked, pay in advance and wait for it to be waiter served.
While my friend, the birthday girl, placed our orders and paid, she mentioned to the very friendly server. To her total delight, the server then offered her a discount which really made her day
I chose the taxi driver (main picture) (£9.45) which is a Brioche bun, American cheese, crispy onion ring, cajun relish, dill pickle, salad & smoked chilli mayo. While I knew this would probably defeat me, made an impressive attempt to finish it as it was so delicious!
Two of the burgers ordered by my friends also appealed to me:
The cheese and bacon burger (£8.95), which came with Monterey Jack, crispy bacon, BBQ sauce, salad, mayo & dill pickle and the Kiwi Burger (£8.95) which came with Beetroot, egg, pineapple, aged Cheddar, salad, mayo & relish. I might have ordered this but the fired egg put me off!
We also ordered the Rosmary skinny fries to share. I would never have thought of putting Rosemay with fries but it actually worked well.
I must say that we all enjoyed our Burger experience and I would definitely go again. I would recommend not having breakfast before though as it really is a substantial feed!
