Fabulous food in Molly’s Yard Restaurant

Saturday, February 22, 2020

It’s been a while since my last visit to the charming Molly’s Yard and I was excited to pay another visit for my birthday dinner!

Molly’s Yard is a former Victorian coach house & stables in a cute courtyard, just up a little alleyway on Botanic Avenue in the Queen’s University Quarter. It’s a lovely spot with a relaxed atmosphere and great service!

I chose Gobóga to start- breaded balls of pearl barley, stuffed with smoked Gubeen cheese, spinach & mushroom with onion & sage purée. I have to say it was divine!
Self professed carnivore, Mr Eating Ideas opted for the Confit duck leg with Thai red cabbage slaw & pomegranate jam and declared it to be delicious.
For my main course, I selected the Thai style local organic vegetable curry with basmati rice & spicy soda farl flatbread. I normally like some meat in a curry but I really didn’t miss it as this was so full of flavour!
Mr Eating Ideas chose the Slow roast shoulder of Tyrone lamb with celeriac fondant, sautéed cabbage, carrot purée, Belfast Blonde jus and horseradish & potato rosti and thyme jus! I had a bit of food envy when I saw this dish as it looked so appetising and Mr. Eating Ideas smugly advised me that he was delighted with his choice!

If you haven’t been yet, I would strongly advise you to pay a visit. Delicious local food in a charming setting with excellent service- what’s not to like?
