A new menu at Wynne & Pym in the Ulster Museum

Tuesday, February 11, 2020

Have you been to Wynne & Pym, the new restaurant in the Ulster Museum, yet? I was invited to try the new expanded menu and was very impressed.

Wynne & Pym has been open for six months but this was my first visit. I was delighted to be asked to try the new menu and pleased to see that local produce very firmly takes centre stage.

Some of the dishes I got to sample included- delicious home-made soup shots, vegan sausage rolls with quinoa, chickpea & squash, Irish pork & black pudding sausage rolls, traditional Irish Stew, spicy chickpea curry, Irish pork sausages, buttery mash, gravy & savoy cabbage, Pattons Belfast Baps with roast bacon loin, home-made wheaten breas, focaccia with sundried tomatoes, pesto & rocket, Irish Black Butter, Broighter Gold oils, mixed salads, Draynes Farm ice cream and Pattons fifteens.

I have to say, everything was delicious but the stand out dish for me was the spicy chickpea curry. I will definitely be back to try that again

About Wynne & Pym

The restaurant is named after John Cumming Wynne, the architect of the original museum building and Frances Pym, who designed the Brutalist-style extension in 1972, Wynne & Pym will have modern menu options beautifully displayed. The newly-styled café, with views of the Botanic Gardens, is a new addition to Belfast’s dining scene, open to museum visitors and local diners alike.

Wynne & Pym at the Ulster Museum, has a range of dining choices, reflecting changing tastes for a modern, health-conscious menu, alongside traditional dishes. From the morning offer of fresh scones and pastries to the lunchtime menu of ‘Made in our Kitchen’ big bowl salads, deli meats and quiches, foodies will not leave hungry. Throughout the day, quality coffee is served, roasted only a few miles away by Belfast-based Bailies Coffee Roasters.

  1. It’s extremely expensive. I got a fanta, bottle of cola, cookie and a gluten free cookie and this cost £13.65. for two cookies and two bottle of juice. Still can’t work out how it cost so much as there is no clear pricelist
