Any regular readers will know that I am extremely fond of smoked salmon.  For most of my life, I  have studiously ignored fish and seafood in all its forms but this is one of the few fishy forms that I have weaned myself onto over the years.

Being such a big fan, I was delighted to be invited to Formans Fish Island, where they actually smoke the salmon on the premises.  The premises are a brand new corporate hospitality,  party venue and restaurant with stunning views of the 2012 olympic Park.  interestingly, Formans used to be slap bang in the middle of where the new Olympics arena is and had to be relocated when work on the park commenced.

H Forman and Sons is a 4th generation family owned salmon smoker, established in the East End in 1905. They employ 90 staff who supply smoked and fresh fish to top hotels, restaurants, chefs and retailers including Gordon Ramsay, Marco Pierre White, Fortnum & Mason, The Dorchester and The House of Lords amongst others and also export globally.  There is a great view of the operation form a gallery beside the restaurant.

For lunch, I was served a lovely buffet selection including,  Apple and chorizo salad, beetroot and horsradish tartar, herbed medallion of turkey, smoked salmon thai fish cakes with sweet chilli sauce.  This was all beautifully presented and served on very trendy square glass plates.
