Thornburys is a family run restaurant in the heart of Lisburn, run by husband and wife, Rob ) & Yvonne.
The cafe was set up in 2004 but thhey took over from the previous owners just before lockdown.
I had met Rob and Yvonne through work and they were telling me about their exciting plans for the place. I was so intrigued, I just had to pay a visit.
They have revamped the hot food bar with tasty home cooked style favourites and have introduced a Slushie and Ice-cream bar. There really is something for all the family!
When we visited, I chose the chicken and broccoli bake (one of my favourites) and I wasn’t disappointed. Succulent chicken and lovely broccoli in a tasty sauce. Mr. Eating Ideas opted for the steak pie with champ and beans and I must say that it kept him busy for some time! I will say that the portion sizes are more than generous so maybe go easy on breakfast if you are paying a visit!
Rob had been telling me about his fabulous Pavlova and I was sceptical as in my opinion, my mum’s chocolate Pavlova is the bomb. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised as Rob’s Pavlova really is something very special. I urge you to give it a try!
Rob and Yvonne have some amazing plans for the cafe that I can’t share just yet but keep your eyes peeled.
Give them a follow on Facebook and Instagram for all the latest news.
