It’s the worst kept secret that I am a massive gin lover. There are just so many varieties and so many flavour combinations to experience. I love trying new gins and am constantly amazed at how many there are to discover.
I was excited to hear that the Borders Distillery has dialled up the potency of their award-winning William Kerr’s Borders Gin with the release of their limited-edition Kerr’s Navy Strength Gin. The limited-edition run will see only 2022 bottles released. They kindly sent me some to try and I was delighted to notch it up as another gin delight that I have enjoyed. Brace yourselves though, it’s 57.1%- higher strength for a fuller, more concentrated flavour. Having said that, you only need a very small measure to get the same impact!
It’s a truly local gin as it has been distilled using Scottish Borders barley sourced from local farmers, all situated within 33 miles of the distillery. Taste wise, I found it pleasingly citrus with just a hint of liquorice. I particularly loved the rich blue bottle which is uniquely paperless using state-of-the-art printing technology.
Produced in a limited run of 2,022 bottles, Kerr’s Navy Strength Gin is the first in a series of experimental releases by The Borders Distillery.
Kerr’s Navy Strength Gin retails at £50.00 (70cl) and is available to purchase online at www.thebordersdistillery.com.
