Get voting in the Irish Curry Awards

Monday, September 11, 2017

There's only a few days let to vote in the Irish Curry Awards. Ali Askir, founder of the awards, joined Eating Ideas for a chat and to provide all the latest information. Don't miss your chance to vote for your favourite restaurants and takeaways throughout Ireland.

Eating Ideas was lucky enough to be invited to the first ever Irish Curry Awards last year. What a fantastic celebration of the best curry restaurants and takeaways in Ireland. Happily this exciting food competition is happening again this year and voting is open.

Belfast-based restaurateur Ali Askir introduced the awards last year, after recognising the significant role of curry houses in Ireland.  We met to have a chat about the awards and you can see the video of Ali below.

The Irish Curry awards will consist of the following categories, Best Chef, Best Young Chef, Best Restaurant, Best Front of House, Best Takeaway, Best Newcomer, Best South Asian Curry and Best Customer Service (South Asian Curryhouse).

You can nominate your favourite restaurant on the website here.

You will be pleased to hear that its a very fair process.  A quota of votes will be calculated at the close of entries to create a shortlist of restaurants county by county. A panel of expert judges including food writers and editors from broadcast and leading newspapers will attend all shortlisted premises and meet to discuss their findings before selecting the winners.  The judges are headed up by Head Judge Ireland, Paul OConnor and Head Judge NI, Joris Minne

An awards ceremony will be held in Belfast on October 24th at the Crown Plaza in Belfast. You can sponsor a table for £1,000 plus VAT. All profits and money raised will be donated to the event’s official charity Children’s Heartbeat Trust. For more information on the awards, sponsorship and how to get tickets, click here.
