Almond Bacon

This almond bacon is a lovely alternative to the real thing. It is super tasty and adds just the right texture. Perfect for vegans and vegetarians.


This almond bacon creation definitely is the biz.  I have been experimenting with different kinds of bacon alternatives with varying success.  Using aubergine, definitely looks more like bacon but the almonds just give the crunch that I crave.

I do love bacon, but am trying to reduce my meat intake and am looking more at meat-free options.  I’m really happy with this and have been adding it to everything!

 

  • 150g flaked almonds
  • 2 tsps liquid smoke (click on the link below to buy this)
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp oil ( I used Broighter Gold Rapeseed oil)
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar ( I used Long Meadow)
  • Ground black pepper
  • Preheat the oven to 175C
  • Mix all the ingredients (except for the almonds) together
  • Add to the almonds and mix well
  • Spread over a baking tray lined with parchment paper
  • Bake for around 15 mins, making sure to stir well every 5 minutes to stop them burning
