I am having some friends round later for supper. Spagetti bolognese is always a winner- simple to make and suitable for kids too (saves making a separate dish) To make it I used the following recipe:
500g lean beef mince
1 onion peeled and chopped
1 carrot peeled and diced
200g mushrooms, sliced
1 clove garlic finely chopped
1 beef stock cube
1 tablespoon tomato puree
400g tin of tomatoes
1 tablespoon of worcester sauce
Fry the onion, add the mince and carrots, and garlic stir until the mince is browned all over. add the tomato puree and stock cube.
Add the tomatoes and mushrooms, cover with enough water to top the mix and simmer.
In my opinion, this is best after simmering for a few hours when the mince breaks down
Season to taste and serve with pasta of choice and top with grated cheese (ideally parmesan but any hard cheese will do)
