I love butternut squash and the idea of turning it into bread seemed both ridiculous and impossible!  The challenge was on.  My friend gave me this recipe that she had meant to try but never bothered.  I think she might have got it of the internet but she couldnt remember!

The result was very unusual but tasty all the same.  If I’m honest, it was a little bit doughy in the middle and probably could have done with being cooked for just a bit longer.  I would definitely try it again though as it is a healthier alternative to realy bread

To make it you will need:

1 butternut squash

300g gluten free flour

2  tsp baking powder

1 tsp mixed herbs

1 tsp oregano

65ml water

 

Instructions:

cut the squah in half and remove the seeds

bake the squash for about 45 mins until its soft- cool

remove the flesh and mash

weigh out 375 g mashed flesh

add flour, baking powder, herbs and pepper

add the water and oil and sir

knead together

flour a board and knead the dough

shape into a round and score a cross on op

place on a baking tray

bake for 4–45 mins

should sound hollow when tapped on the bottom- bake for longer if required

  1. There perfect for a pizza! I relaly like them, I think I make more pizza with them then I do wraps! You should check out Flat Out Wraps web site, they have a bunch of recipes using there wraps.
