This time of year, I always have a little panic about last minute gifts! Who knows who might call to the door bearing a little present when I have nothing to give in return! This home made shortbread is perfect. It’s easy to make, can be packaged into a pretty little gift and best of all, it tastes lovely so will never be wasted!
If you want to make it- here is what you will need:
Ingredients for shortbread
- 225g butter
- 100g caster sugar (with extra for sprinkling)
- 300g plain flour
- 1/4 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp table salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 175C
- Beat together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy
- mix together the flour, baking powder and salt and add to the butter and sugar, combining the mix
- Wrap the dough in cling film and chill in the fridge
- Flour a work surface and roll the dough
- Use a cutter to cut into shapes
- Place on ungreased baking trays and place in the oven
- Bake for 12-15 minutes
Remove and place on a cooling tray
Serve and enjoy!
