Kensington Roof Gardens is certainly a cool spot.  It is situated 100f above Kensington High Street and I suspect that not too many people are aware that people have beeen living it up above their heads since 1933.

The main attraction are the three themed gardens, which are stunning with streams, mature plants and ducks!

Seated at a window seat in the restaurant, we had a view of the English woodland Garden which really is an oasis in the sky.  Once we had duly appreciated our surroundings, my friend and I settled down to peruse the menu.  As it was such a warm and sunny day, we thought that a refreshing cockail would help out decision making.   I chose a Daisy Chain which was a refeshing combination of Tanqueray gin, apricot brandy, grenadine and pineapple juice-lovely!

We both decided to forgo the starters and went sraight for the mains.  I was immediately drawn to the Loch Duart Salmon which is slow cooked in extra virgin rapeseed oil and served with fragrant spices, roasted asparagus and red onion +apricot salsa.  I have to say, this was a beautiful dish and all the elements really complimented the rest.  The only bit I didnt like was the skin on the salmon and Ialways think its a shame that all the seasoning is usually on the skin so I lose it.  Thankfully, this fillet was seasoned on the sides as well so I got the flavours.

My friend opted for the goats cheese as a main course and wasnt as impressed as I was.  She considered her dish to be quite bitter and I think she was  little envious of my dish

Afterwards, we opted for a sorbet selection and chose 2 scoops of coconut +lime and one of blood orange.  These were a lovely cool but light choice and the coconut + lime flavour was particularly nice

This restaurant is definitely at the upper end of the range but the quality of food and service is excellent!
