Easy flatbreads

Saturday, April 4, 2020

This is my go to recipe for flatbreads. Easy to make and delicious too! I season mine with ground cumin, smoked paprika & mixed herbs but you can use any flavours or just leave them plain.

These really are super simple to make and perfect during this period of social distancing.  I keep running out of bread and these have been a life saver.  If you want them a bit more naan like, then just fry them in a little oil or brush with butter when they are cooked.

  • 250g plain flour
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp mixed herbs
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3 tbsps oil
  • 100 mls warm water
  • Place all the dry ingredients in a bowl and mix together
  • Add the water a little at a time
  • Add the oil and mix into a dough.  Add a little more water if needed
  • Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for at least 5 minutes
  • Divide into equal portions (4 for large or 6 for small)
  • Roll into thin rounds
  • Fry in a dry pan for a couple of minutes on each side
