Saturday, February 13, 2021

How to make yummy gin truffles. Easy to make and delicious too. A perfect gift, if you can bear to give them away! Warning- these are addictive.

It’s no secret that I am a lover of gin!  I’m quite the fan of chocolate too so have combined the 2 in these fabulous little truffles.  These are perfect for Valentine’s Day- who am I kidding?  Mr. Eating Ideas will be lucky to see one of them!  They are pretty delicious though so make sure to give them a try

Nothing says “I love you” more than chocolate and with the addition of gin, you are showing true devotion.

You don’t have to add the gin if you want to make them kid friendly or are avoiding alcohol. They work just as well without or with whatever flavour takes your fancy. You can be as creative as you like!  They are lovely just plain too.

  •  25g butter
  • 100g chocolate
  • 2 tbsps  double cream
  • 1 tbsp gin
  • 25g icing sugar (optional- depending on the chocolate/ gin you use, you may want to sweeten the mix a little)
  •  Zest of a 1/2 lime
  • Extra chocolate or cocoa powder to decorate

– Melt the chocolate and butter over boiling water

– Add all the other ingredients and mix well

– Cool, cover and refrigerate for several hours or overnight if possible.  The mixture should harden.

– Chill the baking tray that you will use too

– Roll into small balls.  rubbing some oil on your hands can help to prevent the mixture from sticking to you!

– A top tip is to use an ice pack to keep your hands cool

– Roll some in cocoa powder and some in melted chocolate.  You could also coat in icing sugar or desiccated coconut as alternatives
