Masked Gingerbread people

This year, it felt appropriate to put masks on my gingerbread people. Don't panic though, they still taste great!


Gingerbread people are happy people, even when masked up!

Nothing says Christmas more than gingerbread and these gingerbread people are super easy to make and taste great too!  I masked mine as I am taking my social distancing very seriously!


  • 225g plain flour & extra for rolling
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsps bicarbonate of soda
  • 2 tsps ground ginger
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 50g butter 
  • 100g golden caster sugar
  • 100g golden syrup
  • 1 egg
  • Preheat the oven to 170C
  • Line baking trays with parchment paper
  • Melt the butter with the sugar and golden syrup and leave to cool
  • Mix the dry ingredients together
  • Add the butter mixture and the egg to the dry ingredients and mix into a dough
  • Cover and chill the dough for at least 30 mins
  • Spread flour on the surface and roll out the dough.Use the extra flour if the mixture is too sticky
  • Roll out the mixture and cut the shapes
  • Bake for 10-15 minutes
  • Leave to cool
  • Decorate however you fancy!
